Released in 1972 as a successor to the Bronica S2A, the Bronica EC is a 6x6 SLR camera distinguished by its electronically controlled focal plane shutter, denoted by the "EC" designation. The EC introduced a split-design mirror and revamped the film back and viewfinder system, making them incompatible with previous models. Enhancements include a dark slide storage pocket on the film back, interchangeable magnifiers and focusing screens on the viewfinder, and an optional TTL exposure meter finder with a CdS sensor element.
